Truck overturns in Crete and spills fuel

Share

The Will County Sheriff's Department closed portions of Exchange St. on Monday, Nov. 16, after a truck overturned and spilled fuel onto the ground.

Pat Barry, spokesman for the Will County Sheriff's Department, said the accident happened at approximately midnight on Exchange, between 394 and Cottage Avenue.

He said the truck apparently hit a soft spot on the side of the road, causing it to overturn. Fuel began leaking into the ground.

A hazardous material crew righted the truck up and transferred the fuel into another vehicle. However, the road was closed for the afternoon to allow time to remove the contaminated soil.

The name of the driver and other details were not known at press time.
