Fifth annual wine tasting fundraiser Share
Grant Park Chamber of Commerce will host its fifth annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser on Wednesday, September 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Bennett-Curtis House, 302 W. Taylor St. in Grant Park. All of the projects sponsored by the Grant Park Chamber of Commerce help beautify the town directly. In the past, they have provided improvements such as new street signs in town, new lights in the park and on Main St., flowers and trees along the parkways. Monetary donations moved the historic rural Point School to town and have provided scholarships for Grant Park High School grads. The park district and the village have helped sponsor events such as the annual ''Christmas in the Village,'' the ''Oktoberfest'' and Jimmy Buffett events. Wines will be provided by Southern Illinois Wine and Spirits Association. Hors d'oeuvres will be served. Live music will be featured throughout the evening by the students of Charlotte Gilliam of The Musik Room in Grant Park.
