Monical's Pizza celebrates golden anniversary Share
Whether you enjoy the best-selling pepperoni pizza with a side of French dressing or something classic like a cheese pizza with a side of warm breadsticks, Monical's Pizza in Manteno has always been a favorite spot in town. After being closed for 18 days in order to change location and undergo some crowd-pleasing renovations, Monical's is now open for business at its new location, 199 South Creek Drive. Fans of Monical's will now have more room to sit and enjoy their pizzas, salads, sandwiches, breadsticks and pasta. Other Italian fare offered includes appetizers such as Pepperollies (fresh baked rolls stuffed with pepperoni and cheese), hot wings, cheese fries, and mozzarella sticks. According to manager Eden Puente, ''We went to great lengths to keep that old charm.'' The dining room boasts a purple ceiling and is decked out with vintage-style wall scones, old-fashioned coat hooks, framed mirrors and antique art. Light fixtures from the original Monical's in Bradley and authentic Tiffany lamps add an old-world pizzeria feel to this popular restaurant. The restaurant's makeover and new location are already receiving positive feedback from the community. Manteno resident Dick Kozuch comments, ''It's more of a neighborhood restaurant now.''
