Grant Park 'Christmas in the Village'

Fifth annual Grant Park ''Christmas in the Village 12 days of Christmas'' will take place on Saturday, December 12, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Craft show hours in the Community Center will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All are invited to enjoy these special Christmas holiday events.


-Visit with Santa at the Point School, on Taylor Street, adjacent to the Elementary School. Santa will arrive at 1 p.m. at the Point School to hear the youngsters' special requests. Sponsored by the Main Source Bank.


-Free carriage rides will start at the village hall to take visitors for a horse-drawn carriage ride around town. Sponsored by the Grant Park Chamber of Commerce.


-Grant Park United Methodist Church will present a free, live presentation show at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. at the church. For information, call Doug at 815-465-6781.


-Grant Park Village Hall is having its annual Toy Drive. Bring an unwrapped toy to the village hall for the Santa's Helper Toy Barrel and enter the drawing for a gift card. Drawing will be held at 3 p.m. Also have your card stamped at the village hall. Refreshments are available.

-Grant Park fire station on Curtis Street will have an open house and refreshments. Fire equipment will be on display.


-Grant Park Historical Society on Main Street. See historical items and photos of yesteryear. Refreshments available.


-Grant Park Public Library: Ornament making/refreshments.


-Flowers & Stones: Open house/refreshments.


-Bennett-Curtis House: Open house/refreshments.


-Country Financial: Guessing game/refreshments.


-Dillman True Value: Face painting and free popcorn.


-Traxx Sports Bar and Grill: Hot soup and refreshments.


-The Musik Room: Student recital. Music will be amplified out to the street. Refreshments.


-Chinese Raffle, at the Community Center. Asssorted theme gift baskets donated by residents and area businesses.


-Caroling by Grant Park high school students throughout the day.


-Casey's General Store: Cookies and hot cocoa.


-First National Bank of Grant Park: Crafts for kids/refreshments


-Christmas tree raffle: ''Winterland Wonderland Tree Walk''. Decorated Christmas trees on display at 101 W. Taylor (corner Main and Taylor). Raffle tickets available. Trees donated by local businesses.


-Additional shuttle service from business to business provided by GPSD #1.


The annual Christmas in the Village is sponsored by the Grant Park Chamber of Commerce. Everyone is invited to enjoy these special holiday events. All proceeds go towards beautifying projects in the village.


Russell Publications prints several community newspapers each week, serving Will, Kankakee and Cook counties.
