Ochsenfeld files for state representative

Share

George Ochsenfeld, of Monee, has filed a petition to run for state representative in the 79th district. He believes that big money has corrupted our government and that the Democrats and Republicans who run the State of Illinois are owned by big corporations and other special interests and no longer represent citizens or the principles their parties once stood for.

As a Green Party candidate, Ochsenfeld will not take campaign contributions from corporations, unions or other organizations. He will not accept more than $1000 from any individual. He is not for sale.

George Ochsenfeld will focus on jobs, tax reform favoring the middle-class and resilient local communities. He believes in integrating the best of conservative and progressive thought and believes that political decisions should be based on spiritual values, such as incorporating fairness, honesty, and commitment to what is best for citizens.

Ochsenfeld is a long term opponent of the proposed Peotone airport. He believes that since the project is politically driven, instead of market driven, it will not produce permanent jobs and will become a burden to taxpayers. He believes the official policy of the local governments that have signed resolutions against the project should prevail.

A 1967 graduate of Brother Rice High School, George received degrees from Northern Illinois University and Governors State University. He taught for 20 years at Governors State University in the Substance Abuse Program, and currently has a private practice doing addictions counseling.
