Dugan's 20th annual Toy Drive

Share

State Rep. Lisa Dugan, D-Bradley, announced that her 20th annual toy drive for children will take place until December 11.

''As the national and state economies try to rebound from the recent recession, many families in our region are struggling to make ends meet,'' Dugan said. ''Unfortunately, for many of these families, the rebound may not come before the holidays and some children will go without any Christmas gifts. This toy drive is an opportunity for the community to come together, help one another and make the holidays a little brighter for some local children.''

This year, Dugan will be partnering with the Bradley-Bourbonnais Regional Chamber of Commerce, River Valley Metro Transit and Linman's McDonald's to collect toys for children in need until Friday, Dec. 11.

Constituents or businesses wishing to donate gifts are asked to bring new, unwrapped toys or gift cards to Rep. Dugan's office, 200 E. Court Street, Suite 710 in Kankakee, or to the Bradley-Bourbonnais Regional Chamber of Commerce at 1690 Newtowne Dr. in Bradley, Mondays through Fridays, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Toy donations also can be deposited in barrels that will be on every River Valley Metro bus and at the McDonald's Play Place on Route 50.

After collecting the toys, Dugan and chamber representatives will work with Harbor House, Garden of Prayer Youth Center and other area organizations to distribute the toys to children in Kankakee, Iroquois and Will counties.

''I look forward to this event every year because there is no greater joy in life than doing a good thing for someone in need,'' Dugan said. ''I urge all residents to donate a gift over the holiday season. It is a small gesture that will make a big difference to a child.''

For more information, contact Dugan's constituent service office at 815-939-1983.

Russell Publications prints several community newspapers each week, serving Will, Kankakee and Cook counties.
