Business Expo coming this Fall

Share

The village and chamber of commerce are planning to team up to hold a business expo this fall. The expo is planned for October 17. It will be open to all businesses within the 60468 zip code and any chamber members outside the zip code.

The expo will be held at the high school and will allow businesses to exhibit their services and products, allowing local residents to see what Peotone area businesses have to offer.

Village Engineer Cortney Koning told the board that 26 additional trees will have to be removed for the Rathje Road project. Originally, it was thought that there would be enough room in the parkway to accommodate the trees. However, after a field inspection, it was found that there will not be enough room and the trees will have to be removed.

There was a discussion to place an earmark in next year's budget to replace the trees. Those trees will have to be a smaller species to fit into the parkway.

A fundraiser will be held on July 18 at the Second Street Tap for seven-month old Brookelyn Corbin. Corbin was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis when she was three and a half months old. The event will begin at 3 p.m. with a nominal door fee. There will be music, food, beverages and raffle items. Donations can also be made payable to Jamie Kodis c/o Second Street Tap, 200 W. Main Street.

The village board approved the final payout to Alltrades Improvements in the amount of $27,013.22. Alltrades has been remodeling the police station to make more efficient use of space and to update the building.

The street department was approved to purchase a new mower. The $13,528.76 John Deere unit will replace an older mower.

The village board adopted the prevailing wage ordinance. The ordinance is enacted each year to set the minimum wage levels, established by the Illinois Department of Labor for workers on construction projects undertaken by the municipality.
