School district to repair pavement

The Peotone school board plans to repair pavement around the high school and Peotone Elementary School, and it accepted a bid from Denler, Inc. during the June 15 meeting. The board received three complete bids and one incomplete bid, but chose Denler, Inc. for $51,912.


The district plans to repair the circle drive at the high school, along with the student and faculty lots and some areas at the elementary school. The work is set to be completed by Aug. 15.


Also during the meeting, the school board awarded certificates of recognition to three track and field participants Ñ sophomore Tyler Clott, senior Ryan Lindemulder and freshman Kayce Nagel Ñ for their performances at sectionals and the state tournament in late May.


Additionally, the board approved Peotone Bank and Trust and First Community Bank as depositories for the school district for the 2009 fiscal year.


The board also voted to approve the issuance of a high school diploma for Casey Weisman.

In addition, board members approved the employment of Ann Lavazza as assistant cross country coach at the junior high school, Kevin Mikuce as assistant varsity boys basketball coach at the high school and James Wedic as seventh grade girls basketball coach.


The board also approved the resignations of Kevin Mikuce as eighth grade boys basketball coach, Scott McAllister as seventh grade boys basketball coach, Brandon Owens as freshman boys basketball coach, Morgan Fedro as first grade teacher at Peotone Elementary School and Marie Ferrias as special education coordinator for grades 6-12 at PHS.


They also approved the resignation of Karen Benson as lunchroom and crossing guard supervisor at PES and Leroy Eytcheson as custodian at PES.
