The 2009 Peotone Business Expo might sound like it's all about business, but event sponsors want to make it clear that it's going to be a lot of fun, too. The Expo, hosted by the Village of Peotone and the Chamber of Commerce, is slated for Saturday, October 17, at Peotone High School from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free and open to the public, the Expo will put the spotlight on Peotone businesses and services to give residents a chance to see what Peotone has to offer. It also will feature plenty of family-friendly activities, a ''Taste of Peotone'' food court, health screenings, giveaways and a cash grand prize. For the kids, there will be a Bike Rodeo, and every time a boy or girl rides the circuit, their name will go into a drawing for a prize. The more often a child rides the circuit, the better the chances of winning. There will be one prize for a boy and one for a girl, according to Chamber President Marty Schmidt.
A $500 cash prize will be given to one lucky guest, but visitors don't have to buy any tickets to enter. Instead, guests will receive a card that must be stamped by each participating business or organization. When completed, it goes into the drum for the drawing. Each business or organization participating is required to have some kind of free gift item/giveaway, so there will be plenty of goodies to fill the bags that visitors will receive as they enter.
