The Village Hall and other village-owned areas around Manteno will soon have their roofs repaired from the hail damage that happened in late May.
Trustees voted at the Sept. 2 board meeting to spend $30,900 to repair the Village Hall's flat and pitched roofs.
Miken Home Improvements of Manteno will begin repairs in two to three weeks.
The community center, Eddie Reed Park pavilion, Don Belcher Park pavilion and the Heritage Park concession stand will also be repaired soon and the village is requesting individual bids for those buildings.
There are also 20 other village-owned structures that need repair.
The time line for these repairs will depend on insurance requirements.
Additionally, Mayor Timothy Nugent presented Brett Casino of Bourbonnais with a check for $672 from the bicycle auction held a few weeks ago at the Manteno Farmer's Market.

Casino works for Youth for Christ and is the Campus Life director at Manteno Middle School. All proceeds from the auction were donated to Youth for Christ.
Also, the Manteno High School (MHS) girls soccer team was approved to sell pumpkins and mums door-to-door as a fund raiser. They will be doing this a few weekends in September.
Additionally, the MHS boys soccer team will be selling Fannie May chocolates Sept. 4-12, and the MHS class of 2012 will be selling "Bags for Bucks" trash bags for $6 to help offset costs for prom. All items will be sold door-to-door or those interested can contact the high school.
In addition, the board approved an ordinance amending the current sanitary sewer system requirements. The amendment says that when new subdivisions are accepted into Manteno, the developer must hire the village to create a video tape of the sewer system at the cost of the developer at whatever the going rate is.
This is to ensure the tape is completed in a way acceptable to the village and so village employees are able to see problem areas in advance.

The last 25 percent will be completed during the second year.
