Starting September 13, Steger will have a farmer's market. The market will be held through the end of October.
There will be a Fall Fest Farmers' Market in the Kmart parking lot every Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m.
Sponsors of the much awaited event include Steger Chamber of Commerce, First United Bank, Bambino's Restaurant, Ross Electric, Steger Police Association, Steger Memorial Chamber, and Steger Firefighter's Association.
Nature's Choice Farm, started by Eric and Samantha Sexton, specializes in raising poultry, beef and pork naturally.
Eric's dream was to raise animals in a healthy environment and produce quality meats and eggs that are not only good for you, but tasty too.
Their animals are raised in the open air and on fresh pasture.
Their chickens and turkeys are never kept in cages and are provided plenty of space, fresh grass and fed a specially designed medication/hormone free diet.

Their hens lay eggs that have a rich yellow yolk and are very delicious.
Two different types of tomatoes, four different types of onions, sweet corn, zucchini, three different types of squash and eggplant. Melons, nectarines, peaches, plums and watermelons.
As soon as autumn is in the air, there will be pumpkins, gourds, bales of straw, corn stalks and much, much more will all be at the Witvoet-Dixon tables with Heather.
All of the produce is locally grown.
Booths will be available with products from Avon with Renee Thornton, Tupperware with Lynette Bridges, specialty items by Carolyn Woolfolk and Precious Gifts Too with Richard and Kathy Parrish.
Hardy mums and garden plants and flowers will be available for purchase from Joe at the Steger Flower Shop booth.
Mums are traditional in the autumn garden. With varieties hardy in most climates and their ability to be pinched and forced to bloom at the end of the season, these jewel toned beauties make a welcome splash in the garden when most summer bloomers have begun to fade.
Bloom times vary with variety and climate, from early September through mid-October.
So stop by and have a chat with Joe if you can't decide which mum is the best for you because there is still time to have them blooming in your garden.
If you get hungry, the very popular Bambino's Family Restaurant will be selling hot dogs with all the fixin's.
Owner Frank Elton is president of the Steger Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Steger Kiwanis. Possibly, wife Debbie and daughter Laura will be on hand to serve the always-satisfied customers.
Steger Scout Troop 173 will be selling popcorn and also taking orders for its popcorn fundraiser.
Participating leaders will be Don and Jill Raymond, Dave and Tammy Kozlowski, Ken and Alice Peterson, John and Star Kaminski, Harley Davis, Ken Peterson, Sr. and Mike Riley.
It is also possible that the Crete Scouts Troop 123 will have a table selling subscriptions to the Steger News.
Make sure to stop by that booth with Leader Mike Dutzcak.
