The Beecher Village Board passed Ordinance #1105, which amended Section 6-11-1 of the village code, which relates to the towing fees. A towing fee of $100 will be applied to any vehicle that violates this ordinance. The passage of the ordinance allows the police department to recoup the money necessary to process the paperwork connected with these investigations.
In this amendment to the code, the board repealed Section 6-11-1(A) through 6-11-1 (E) and replaced it by section 6-11-1 (A) through (H).
The change in the amendment pertains to administrative towing fees to include a $100 towing fee for all tows resulting from criminal activities. Originally, certain crimes were excluded from the original towing fee. The new ordinance includes additional crimes.
The new ordinance, which helps the police department to recover funds expended, included the following crimes:
-Violation of any provision of the Illinois Cannabis Control Act;
-Violation of any provision of the Illinois Controlled Substances Act;

-Violation of the Drug Paraphernalia Control Act;
-Violations of various sections of the Illinois Criminal Code of 1961 relating to sex offences;
-Violations of the Criminal Code of 1961 regarding deadly weapons;
-Violations of the Criminal Code relating to the following: Driver's must have licenses or permits, unlawful use of driver's license, fictitious or unlawfully altered driver's license or permit, fraudulent driver's license or permit, driving while suspended or revoked, fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer, illegal transportation of alcohol, reckless driving, street racing, and driving 40 miles and hour or more in excess of applicable limit;
-Violation of Beecher Village Code regarding discharge of firearms, weapons or air guns;
-Violations of the Illinois Criminal Code involving assault, aggravated assault, vehicular endangerment, battery, domestic battery, aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery, heinous battery, aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated battery of a child, aggravated battery of a senior citizen, theft, theft of mislaid property, theft from coin-operated machines, retail theft, robbery, armed robbery, burglary, residential burglary, arson, aggravated arson, possession of explosives, criminal damage to property, and mob actions.
The passage of this ordinance repeals all other ordinances of the Village of Beecher, in the event of a decision by any court of law shall not invalidate this ordinance as a whole or any other part not declared invalid.
