Village Begins Election Preparations
» Katie Carr - Peotone Vedette - September 25, 2008

The village announced at the Sept. 22 village board meeting that candidate packets for the April 7, 2009 consolidated election will be available on Oct. 28.

The offices to be elected are the village president, village clerk and three village trustee positions. Each of these offices are four year terms.

The packets are available at the office of the village clerk at 208 E. Main St. The first day to circulate petitions is Oct. 28, and the filing period is Jan. 19-26.

Additionally, the Boy Scouts of Peotone Troop 315 were approved to sell Spaghetti Dinner tickets door-to-door on Monday, Oct. 13 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The dinner is the Troop's annual fund-raiser and will be held on Oct. 25 at the Peotone American Legion.

The board also voted to approve payment of the procedural costs for a pre-annexation agreement with 31831 S. Rathje Road. The village was the mover behind the agreement, so the board decided this was the best decision in this instance. When future cases similar to this occur, the board will review each case individually.
