Steger Kiwanis is hosting a Pancake Breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon on October 26 at the Steger VFW, 35 W 34th St. in Steger. Last year, Kiwanis members mixed the batter and grilled hundreds of pancakes for over 300 people. They expect to pass that number this year.
Are you the one to make a difference in your community? Steger Kiwanis members are committed to providing their club, community and the world with service. In fact, members dedicate approximately six million service hours per year conducting charitable programs. And nearly two-thirds of Kiwanis clubs devote more than 500 hours to service projects annually, with individual members averaging 24 hours of service per year.
Steger Kiwanis is no different. With many local business owners as members, Kiwanis focuses on the needs of ordinary people and children to create extraordinary life-changing moments. Steger Kiwanis is taking itself from a good organization to a truly great organization that defines excellence for service and leadership and builds leaders through service opportunities.
Kiwanis was founded in Detroit, Michigan, on Jan. 21, 1915. In the early years, Kiwanis clubs focused on business networking, but even then, members were serving the needs of the poor.
