Manteno Public Library programs
"Tot Spot" is a hands-on workshop for parents and young children (0-5 years old) to explore early literacy activities with books, toys and games. "Tot Spot" provides several stations where literacy activities will encourage positive interaction between parent and child, nurturing a lifelong love of books and reading. The program is made possible by a grant from the Community Foundation of Kankakee River Valley. Join us on Monday, March 31, anytime between 6 - 7 p.m. Registration is not required.
Evening Book Club
The Evening Book Club will be meeting again on Thursday, April 3, at 6:30 p.m. The group will discuss "The First 20 Minutes," by Gretchen Reynolds. Light refreshments will be served. Reservations are requested.
Diana's Art Club
Join Diana Sweeney for art club on Saturday, April 5, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 - 2:30 p.m; Friday, April 11, from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m.; or Saturday, April 12, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Each session will feature a different project and medium. Children five years old and up are welcome to attend. There is a $5 fee. Registration is required. All supplies are included.
Friends of the Library Meeting
Love the library? Join the Friends of the Manteno Public Library group on the second Tuesday of the month, Tuesday, April 8, at 1 p.m. The Friends help the library through fundraising and volunteering.
Tuesday Afternoon Book Club
Join the book club on Tuesday, April 8, from 3 to 4 p.m. for a discussion about "The Autobiography of Mrs. Tom Thumb," by Melanie Benjamin. Copies of the books are available now for check out at the circulation desk.
Join us on Tuesday, April 8 at 6:30 p.m. for "Money Habitudes." Sasha Whitley, from the University of Illinois extension office will discuss effects of how we save, spend, earn, invest, go into debt and give money away. Gain insight about one's own financial values. Space is limited. Reservations are requested.
On Wednesday, April 9, at 6:30 p.m., Master Gardeners Char Morgan and Pat Gallian will be on hand to demonstrate how to grow a windowsill herb garden. Space is limited. Registration is requested. All supplies are included for this free program.
The Pot Luck Club will meet Thursday, April 10, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. This month's special is hors d'oeuvres. Exchange culinary ideas each month and sample delicious food! Registration is required.
Mom & Me Bracelet Craft
A program for Moms and their daughters eight years and up is set for Saturday, April 12, at 10:30 a.m. Spend some time together making bracelets. The fee is $10 per participant. Children must be accompanied by an adult. All materials will be provided. Registration is required.
