Computer Basics series will be held on Mondays, April 14, April 21, and April 28, at 5 p.m. No experience required! This three-class series is a beginner's introduction to computers and the internet. It meets three Mondays in a row and covers three topics: "Intro to Computers," "Intro to the Internet" and "Searching the Internet." Registration is absolutely required! Registration opens four weeks prior to the first class.
Five ways to Save the Planet will be held on Thursday, April 24, at 7 p.m. for 13-year-olds and older, who will learn concrete ways of going green at the library. Plant "smart" shrubs. Think differently. Water wisely. Lean in to green living by mixing Do-It-Yourself ingenuity with homespun practicality and a touch of whimsy. Take charge of local sustainability by starting at home with five easy ways to save the planet. Presented by Prairie Godmothers.
Battle of the Books! will be held Tuesday, April 29, Wednesday, April 30, and Thursday, May 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. It's an knock-down, drag-out, intellectual fight for literary supremacy! Bring the family out to the library to watch teams and schools compete. Join the legions of fans to find out who will reign supreme in this extremely popular library event!
Lit Cafe at the Edge will be held on Wednesday, April 30, at 6:30 p.m. Meet at The Edge Coffee House to discuss this month's title "In the After," by Demitria Lunetta. In a post-apocalyptic world, where nothing is as it seems, 17-year-old Amy and Baby, a child she found while scavenging, struggle to survive while vicious, predatory creatures from another planet roam the Earth. Copies available in advance in the Adult Services department.

Crete Public Library District has expanded its services with streaming video, available to enjoy from the library's website, http://www.cretelibrary.org. Library card holders have instant access to streaming video with a growing catalog of digital feature films, documentaries, educational, children's favorites and more, with a modern, easy-to-use viewing experience. Users may browse the video selection on the library's website, borrow titles with a valid library card and stream on most mobile and desktop devices. All videos will automatically expire so there are no late fees!
The Knot Just For Knitters group will collect knitted and crocheted baby and preemie hats, beginning April 1 and ending June 28. Make them one's self, or come join the library on the second and fourth Mondays of each month! All donations will go to St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights and Olympia Fields. Donations may be brought to the front desk of the Crete Library.
Laser Tag with a Parent will be held on Saturday, May 3, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. after hours at the library! Tweens and their parents, only! Shootout in the stacks! Battle behind the books! Lasers in the lobby! Registration required, and it fills up fast!
