Blue Devils Win Three

After a tough loss 1-0 to Lincoln-Way East, Peotone bounced back to score 40 runs in three non-conference wins.

On April 7, the Blue Devils routed Central 17-0 in five innings. Emily Carstens pitched three innings of two-hit ball for the win. Allie Johnson pitched final two innings with no hits and four walks. The duo combined for 10 strikeouts.

Alexis Dockins (2 doubles) was 5-for-5 with five RBIs along with scoring three runs. Anissa Bennett (run, RBI) was 3-for-3. Jenna Balthazor (2 doubles, 3 runs, 2 RBIs) and Jordan Nichols (2 doubles, run, 2 RBIs) each had two hits. Elle Hagemaster (double) had two RBIs.

The next day, a seven-run second led to an 11-0 win over Chicago Christian. Emily Carstens (2 hits, 6 strikeouts) worked the first three innings, while Johnson (no hits, 5 strikeouts) again pitched the final two frames.

Carstens had two hits including a homer. She drove in three runs and scored twice. Carley Maupin also had hits with an RBI and two runs. Melissa Howard knocked in two runs, while Dockins tallied twice.

On April 10, the Blue Devils crushed Momence 12-1 in other five-inning game. Carstens hit a pair of roundtrippers driving in four runs and scoring twice.

Johnson went all five innings yielding an unearned run. She fanned 15 batters allowing two this and two walks.

At the plate, Johnson was 3-for-3 with a double. She scored three times. Nichol was also 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs. Maupin and Howard (3 RBIs) also cracked homers.

Peotone is 5-2.
