Ecumenical Seder Celebration
The community is invited to an Ecumeical Seder Celebration on Maundy Thursday, April 17, at 6:30 p.m., at Peotone United Methodist Church. The non-denominational service is open to all in the community. Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP by calling the Methodist Church office at 258-6876.
Easter Bake Sale
Area residents are invited to Faith Community Church's annual Easter Bake Sale on Saturday, April 19, from 8:30 a.m. or until sold out, in the lobby at First Midwest Bank.
Fibromites Unite to Meet April 26
Fibromites Unite is a local support group for fibromyalgia patients and their families. The group meets the fourth Saturday of every month at St. Margaret Mercy Hospital in Dyer, from 10 a.m. to noon - offering support, friendship, understanding, reassurance, guest speakers and social activities. This month, guest speakers are Jane Koenig and John Vurpillat of NWI Hypnosis Center, who will discuss the possible benefits of hypnotherapy.

Illinois State Senator Toi Hutchinson and the Illinois Department of Employment Securities will host a special employment opportunities event for the unemployed or under-employed to connect with professionals and businesses looking for talented and energetic workers.
Thirty-to-fortyemployers from Kankakee and the surrounding areas will be present at a hiring event focusing on getting proactively involved in the employment process on Thursday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Civic Center Auditorium, 803 South Eighth Street, Kankakee.
Ask a Lawyer Day
In conjunction with the Illinois State Bar Association, the Will County Bar Association will participate in the annual Ask a Lawyer Day, which is an opportunity for the public to call and ask general legal questions of Will County attorneys, free-of-charge.Calls will be accepted by local attorneys on Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. until noon, at 815-436-6000.In addition, representatives of the Illinois State Bar will be available for questions at 800-252-8908.

Free Eye Screening Diabetic Retinopathy
Area residents are invited to the Lions free screening photograph for diabetic retinopathy on Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at St. James Manor, 1251 E. Richton Road in Crete.
Diabetic retinopathy is the leading cause of new blindness in adults. Early detection is a major factor in the prevention of visual loss. The screening also may determine if macular degeneration is present.

*Senior Luncheon: Peotone Park District will sponsor a senior luncheon on Tuesday, April 22, at noon, at the Park District building - 8 Blue Devil Drive, to discuss the needs of senior community members.

*Summer Softball League Openings: Peotone Park District has openings in its adult summer softball league, which consists of men's, women's and co-ed teams, for anyone 18 years of age or older. The play from June to the end of August.

For those who have already registered, there will be a manager's meeting on Tuesday, April 22, at 7 p.m., at the Park District Building, 8 Blue Devil Drive.
Wilton Center Pancake Breakfast
Wilton Center Pancake breakfast has been rescheduled for April 27, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Wilton Center Elementary School, on Cedar Road, just off Rt. 52 in Wilton Center. Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and children ages six-to-12, and free for children under the age of six.
