Members of the Lincoln-Way Central yearbook staff completed the school's 2014 yearbook, 59th edition of the Aegis producing a unique piece of school history.

Design editor for the 2014 Aegis is Mary O'Donnell, copy editors are Nicole Amir and Paige Fox, with managing editors Krystal Uteg and Amilia Westergaard.

"This is a very unique yearbook. Each year I tell the yearbook staff, I don't know how anyone would top this, and I say that again to all of you. I love the use of the shield and the Knight logo on the cover, with the lenticular sticker. I am extremely proud," Dr. Steve Provis, principal, told the yearbook editors and staff.

Provis continued saying, "Thank you all for your time and effort, this is an accomplishment you will remember the rest of your life."

The students picked the theme for 2014 as: Loyalty, Legacy, Integrity and Wisdom. They divided the yearbook into sections using the four topic areas.

'Loyalty' includes photos of all students, faculty, staff and athletics; 'Wisdom' includes sections about the academic core English, mathematics, physical education, science, social science, world languages, ROTC, PSAE All Stars, National Merit Commended, National Merit Finalists, and the valedictorian and salutatorian of the class.

'Worth' includes photos of all the student activities such as: music, transitional program, student council, national honor society, mathletes, Pi Sigma Pi and many others; and 'Legacy' includes photos and copy about student life and special events at Lincoln-Way Central.

"This year it took over 811 hours to create the 252 pages. The press run of 1,770 represented a 95 percent sale to the student body and staff," stated Karin Dunn, yearbook advisor and English teacher.

At the beginning of the yearbook a message to all Central students is written by the two copy editors, Paige Fox and Nickie Amir.

The statement reads: "Life is Short. Don't waste time on being someone you're not. Don't wonder what other people think of you. Be Yourself. Be Worthy of the person you aspire to be. Loyalty is not just a word... it's a Lifestyle. Be true to yourself and great things will happen. Always remember: Be Kind, Be Fair, Be True.... and pledge your true allegiance to the Knights of Lincoln-Way."

"No task is ever easy, but the staff and I enjoy the challenge and honor to be a part of history," noted Dunn.

Aegis staff are Erin Peterson, Kathleen Krol, Selena Gaytan, Corey Kilmartin, Jack Kurczewski, Madison Kestel, Joey Schuman and Ashley Evans.
