Steger-South Chicago Heights Public Library Receives $16,000 "Eliminate the Digital Divide" Grant
The Steger-South Chicago Heights Public Library recently announced it is the recipient of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity "Eliminate the Digital Divide" grant. The library will receive $16,000 to purchase new computers and accessories to conduct computer basics courses in Spanish and English.
"We're thrilled to have received this grant," Library Director Lisa Korajczyk said. "It will enable us to assist underserved populations in our service area and ensure they receive the basic training needed to participate in the digital world."
The computer courses will be conducted at the Steger-South Chicago Heights Library, South Chicago Heights Village Hall, and Lou Sherman Community Center in Steger. Topics will range from accessing the Internet, creating a new email address, composing emails, using Microsoft Office software such as Microsoft Word and Excel, and more.
Courses will begin in the fall and are free to join. Anyone interested in joining should call the library at 708-755-5040 for more information.
