Library Summer Reading: The summer reading program at Beecher Community Library will run from Monday, June 13 - Monday, July 25. Adults and children of all ages can register at the library beginning June 13 to win prizes for reading!Call 946-9090 for more information.

Beecher Community Library invities area residents - young and old - to its Summer Reading Special Knight Event on Thursday, June 23, from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. Come to the library to see a live knight in full armor tell stories of valor, character, and chivalry! Refreshments will be served and all ages are welcome.

Concert Trip for Seniors: On Tuesday, June 21, Washington Township seniors will go to Perry Farm in Bradley for an outdoor concert performed by the "Kings of Dixieland."

The local band has performed at parades, festivals and other special events since 1983. Members include Randy King, clarinet; Dave King, trumpet; Paul Germano, trombone; Jim Stone, banjo; Rich Benzik, tuba and Steve Betz, drums.

Transportation will be provided by the township, and the bus will leave the Beecher Community Building, 673 Penfield, at 6 p.m. Cost of transportation is $4. The concert is free, but a two dollar donation is requested.

Beecher Sportsmen's Club will host its monthly fish fry on Friday, June 10, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Eagle Lake Clubhouse - three miles east of Rt. 1 on Indiana, then 1-¾ miles north on Yates.

Relay For Life Fundraiser: The Relay For Life Team - Retired PTO and Company will host a vendor/craft fundraiser to benefit Relay For Life of Peotone-Beecher-Monee at the new Peotone Park District Building (formerly Pearl Dodge) on Saturday, June 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Vendors include: Christine's Creation's - featuring beautiful custom jewelry made with gem stones, glass beads, and hemp, as well as hoola hoops, all by Christine Turner; Bonnie Schick from Tastefully Simple; and Jenny Dore from Scentsy Candles. Vendors/crafters agree to donate a portion of their sales to a Relay For Life team of their choice.
