Helping Hands Food Pantry: The food pantry will be open to all area residents (including senior citizens and adults both with or without children who reside within the boundaries of the Peotone School District and are in need of food assistance) on Wednesday, July 6, and Wednesday, July 20, from 1 to 5:30 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall - Crawford and First Streets in Peotone.
Residents, wishing to seek assistance, will need to bring a written form of proof of residency, e.g.: utility bill, driver's license or state I.D., rent receipt, etc.

Senior Assistance at Library
Area seniors are invited to the Peotone Library on the first Thursday of each month, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Senior Advocate volunteers, with many resources, are available to assist residents with utility bills, prescription drug premiums, license plate and real estate discounts, etc. The assistance is free, so stop in and have those puzzling questions answered. The next informational meeting will be held on Thursday, July 7.
SonSurf VBS: "SonSurf" Vacation Bible School at Wilton Center Federated Church: Calling all kids - come join "SonSurf Beach Bash" Vacation Bible School - an exciting week of songs, stories, games, crafts, and snacks. From July 11 through July 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., a big question will be explored each evening - Who is Jesus? Why can I trust Jesus? Why do I need Jesus? How can Jesus help me when I mess up? And, What does Jesus want me to do? Come find the answers, along with the wild and crazy "Beach Dudes," who will join the group every night as they learn about Jesus and discover how much He loves us.
All children, ages three years through the completion of fifth grade are invited to attend this year's Vacation Bible School at Wilton Center Federated Church, 14101 W. Joliet Rd., or Rt. 52, five miles south of Manhattan.
On Friday night, the annual bonfire will be held at 8 p.m. The program is FREE. Students who have completed sixth grade or above are welcome to be teen helpers. Please call to register the children. Surfs Up! Hope to see you soon!

Prairie Herb and Garden Guild will meet Thursday, July 14, at 7 p.m., at Peotone United Methodist Church (Main and West Streets). The public is invited.
Visual Tribute: This year's luminaria ceremony at the Relay For Life of Peotone-Beecher-Monee on Friday, July 22, will feature a visual tribute. A visual tribute is a photo slideshow presentation with a photograph of a loved one. The $5 contribution for each visual tribute will be used for equipment rental. Any proceeds will be donated. To purchase a visual tribute contact Wilma Swanson at 708-408-5184 or wilmaswanson@mac.com. Deadline to submit photos is Friday, July 15.
Luminaria: Each light honors someone who has battled cancer. Each luminaria, lighting the path along the track and burning throughout the night, commemorates a treasured relationship. Purchase a luminaria from any Relay For Life team member or at the event on Friday, July 22, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Luminaria are $10 each. The Luminaria Ceremony begins at 9 p.m. at Peotone Junior High.

CPR Class: A CPR class for area residents and healthcare providers will be held on Wednesday, July 20, at 6 p.m., at the Peotone Fire Station.
Class fees are: $50 for healthcare providers and $35 for non-healthcare providers.

Peace Meals
Peace Mealswill befurnished, by local restaurants, on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Desserts are brought by those attending. The meals are $3. Residents are asked to sign-up by calling Immanuel United Church of Christ's office at 258-6966, by 2 p.m. on Tuesday. All ages are welcome. Mexican Train, a game of dominoes, is played before and after the meal. If you don't wish to play games, just come for the meal and visit.
FFA Farmers Market: Mark those calendars! Peotone Farmers Market is open from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Conner Shaw Center - 212 West Wilson Street in Peotone, every Sunday except on Sundays during the 4th of July, Will County Fair, and Labor Day week-ends.
Every Sunday afternoon, fresh produce - from tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, pumpkins, sweet corn, and egg plant, to apples, watermelon, pears, and even herbs and flowering plants - will be available.
Be on the lookout for the FFA's new blue tent. Even the rainy days will not stop residents from getting the best for their families.
