Dole And Kozuch Grand Marshals Of Parade

Dole and Kozuch will be the Grand Marshals of the Oktoberfest Lighted Parade

The Manteno Chamber of Commerce and its parade committee are proud to announce that Gerald Dole and Richard Kozuch, Manteno's Citizens of the Year, will be Grand Marshals at the Oktoberfest lighted parade.

Dole, a lifelong resident of Manteno, has been married to Diane for 33 years. They have two sons and one daughter, plus three grandchildren.

Dole is the assistant fire chief for the Manteno Fire Department and is the training officer for its members.

When asked why he feels Manteno is a great town, Dole said, "It is the people itself and how everybody gets along. I was born and raised here, so I'm used to the friendliness of the people in the town." He added, "This also includes the men and women on this fire department that makes this town a safer place to live in."

Citizen of the Year Kozuch is a 36-year resident of Manteno. He and his wife, Karen, have been married for 44 years. They have two kids and three grandchildren, two of which are twins.

Kozuch is a member of the Knights of Columbus, served as Grand Knight for five years and as Deputy Grand Knight for five years. Among his volunteerism and community service activities are service as chairperson for the annual Tootsie Roll Drive for people who have intellectual disabilities; helping with the Manteno Food Pantry, and membership in the Manteno Rotary Club, Manteno Interfaith Commission and Christmas baskets for the needy, just to name a few.

Why is Manteno a wonderful town? For Kozuch, the answer is simple. "People are so cordial and caring. Manteno offers many opportunities for the youth--a good education and athletics," he pointed out.
