The Will/Grundy counties Illinois Genealogical Society will meet on Saturday, February 11, at 10 a.m., Coal City Library - 85 N. Garfield Street in Coal City. Attendees are encouraged to bring pictures and anecdotes of your ancestors.

The Elwood community church will host its annual chicken and biscuit dinner on February 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. The menu is creamed chicken and vegetables and home baked biscuits with slaw, beets, dessert and beverage. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Children under five eat free.
The Elwood Community church is located at 101 N. Chicago Street in the village of Elwood.
Informational parent meeting for children entering kindergarten in the fall will be conducted Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Wilson Creek Commons. All children who will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2012 are eligible to attend kindergarten for the 2012-2013 school year. All parents are encouraged to attend. Children need not attend.
This evening will be informational only so do not need to bring birth certificates. You will be given registration packets to take home, fill out, and return. Kindergarten Registration will be conducted on March 29 and 30. If you would like to turn in your registration sooner, stop by the Wilson Creek office from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you know of any parents with kindergarten age children please pass along this information to them.
MYAA Soccer registrations are now being accepted. Deadline is March 1. Forms are available on line www.manhattanball.com. After completing the form, mail it to MYAA Soccer P.O. Box 603, Manhattan, IL 60442.
Wilton Center Federated Church is holding a collection for new and used blankets to benefit Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago. Used blankets need to be clean and in good shape and may be left at the church by the front door in a plastic bag. Residents may also call Karen Oglesby 815-258-0535 for pick-up. Collection will continue through the morning of March 4.
