SPECIAL EVENTS

Join the Manteno Seniors group every second and fourth Thursday of the month at the Leo Hassett Community Center, 211 North Main Street in downtown Manteno. Doors open at 11 a.m. with a buffet lunch for $7 being served at noon. Bingo is played from 1 to 3 p.m. All seniors 55 and older and their guests are welcome. Call Kathy Conwell at 815-468-7615 to reserve your spot.

Senior Citizens Assistance program in Peotone meets from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month at Peotone Public Library. If you are in need of a wheelchair, either for short-term or long-term, two organizations can help you: Options for Independent Living in Bourbonnais (815-936-0100) has wheelchairs available to Will and Kankakee County residents. The second is the Will-Grundy Center for Independent Living in Joliet 815-729-0162. Their wheelchairs are available to Will and Grundy County residents. At both organizations, the wheelchairs are loaned free of charge. If you have any questions or need more information, call the Center at 708-258-3436 on February 16.

Calling all seniors! Heritage Woods of Manteno will host free bingo at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 16. Prizes are $5 Walmart gift cards with the grand prize being a $10 gift card. Stick around for refreshments and if interested a tour. Free bingo is the first and third Thursday of every month at Heritage Woods of Manteno, 355 Diversatech Drive. Free income Tax Preparation is available for seniors over the age of 60 at the Leonard Robinson Center, 22013 Governors Highway, Richton Park. Call 708-748-5454 for an appointment.
