Air Force Airman Dalton R. Petersen graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He earned distinction as an honor graduate.

He is the son of Toni Gaus and step-son of Vern Gaus of Buckingham, and son of Rick Petersen of Manteno. He is a 2011 graduate of Herscher High School.
