MHS Welcomed New Members Into the Prestigious Wall of Fame
In a special presentation, Manteno High School continued one of the school's richest traditions, with inductions into the prestigious Wall of Fame.
On Friday, February 3, before the boys varsity basketball game against Lisle, Manteno High School inducted new members into the Manteno High School Wall of Fame.
The Wall of Fame is comprised of an elite group of Manteno alumni, coaches, teachers and friends of Manteno High School who have achieved this great honor through many hours of hard work, commitment and dedication in their respective sport or area of expertise.
The first induction of the evening was Andrew Frame, Class of 2005. During his years at MHS, Frame dominated on the golf course.
He was a four-time team MVP, four-time RVC Player of the Year, four-time RVC All-Conference First Team, four-time RVC Conference Tournament Medallist, three-time IHSA Class A Regional Medallist, two-time IHSA Class A Sectional Medallist, four-time IHSA State Tournament Qualifier, 2004 IHSA Class A State Runner-up (143), 2005 IHSA Class A State Runner-up (143), school record holder for nine holes (31), school record holder for 18 holes (68) and school record holder for career scoring average (73.0).
After graduating from Manteno, Frame continued his golf career at Northern Illinois University. At Northern, he started off strong, being named the Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year for the 2006-07 season. That same season, Frame was named to the Mid-American All-Conference Second Team.
During the 2009 and 2011 seasons, he was named to the Mid-American Academic All-Conference Team as well as the Golf Coach's Association All-American Scholar Team. Frame left Northern carding nine top-10 finishes, holding the record of most competitive rounds of golf at 131 rounds and ranked fifth in school history with a scoring average of 75.3.
The second Wall of Fame inductees of the evening was the 2006 MHS Boys Golf Team. The members had an outstanding 2006 golf season. The team completed a perfect 19-0 regular season, which included taking first place at the Grant Park Invitational, first at the Watseka Invitational and first at the River Valley Conference Tournament.
After completing a perfect regular season, the group went to the regional as the favorite and didn't disappoint, sweeping through the competition and rolling to the Class A Regional Championship.
After placing first at the regional meet, the team followed with a second place finish at the IHSA Class A Sectional Meet and advanced to the IHSA State finals where it earned a fourth place finish. Patrick Mellin coached Frame and the 2006 Golf Team.
