'Pride Of Lincoln-Way' Recognizes 2012 Valedictorians, Salutatorians
District 210 school officials applaud 'the best of the best' in academics, athletics and fine arts
Lincoln-Way High School officials on Thursday congratulated "the best of the best" as valedictorians and salutatorians were named for the Class of 2012 at each of the district's campuses.
The board of education also applauded student achievements in athletics and fine arts listed on the Pride of Lincoln-Way sheet for February 9.
Superintendent Lawrence Wyllie acknowledged the students during his report at the board meeting.
ACADEMICS
Congratulations to the Central High School valedictorian, Kaleigh Barrett, and salutatorian, Isaac Carrasquillo. Principal is Steve Provis.
Congratulations to the East High School valedictorian, Xue (Shirley) Zhan, and salutatorian, Jessica Meaux. Principal is Scott Tingley.
Congratulations to the North High School valedictorian, Raymond Michuda, and salutatorian, Nileema Patel. Principal is Mike Gardner.
Congratulations to the West High School valedictorian, Eric Staniszewski, and salutatorian, Cassandra Kirkland. Principal is Monica Schmitt.
ATHLETICS
Congratulations to the Central varsity wrestling team on its 21-2 record. Team members include: Danny Harris, Tyler Price, Joey Nelson, Mick Korte, Robbie Mikenis, Ryan Korte, Logan Doyle, Tyler Schneider, Brendan Ditchman, Bryce Gorman, Brett Ditchman, Ryan Gromnicki, Luke Fisher, and Grant Bartell. Head coach is Jason DePolo.
Congratulations to the West student athletes who recently signed Letters of Intent. BJ Bello has signed to play football at the University of Illinois, and Kyle Millner has signed to play football at Robert Morris College. Head coach is Dave Ernst.
FINE ARTS
Congratulations to the Central students appearing as cast members in the winter play, "Twelve Angry Jurors:" Paige Bassi, Jackie Tanis, Colin Keppner, Gina Middleton, Dana Gilbertsen, Finn Mitchel, Ean Schultz, Tyler Seaman, Hannah Burkhardt, Cody Keppner, Paige Dauparas, AJ Gasbarro, Ben Gruca, and Zach Feisley. Director is Nicole Kaestner.
Congratulations to West High art student Jessicca Thompson for taking first place - Best of Show for her acrylic painting "Thrill Ride" at the Northern Illinois University High School Invitation Art Competition. Department chair is Paul Faris.
