Manteno's McCorkle Signs With EIU
Manteno's McCorkle signs With EIU
Manteno senior Brittani McCorkle signed a national letter of intent to continue her soccer career at Eastern Illinois University. McCorkle is considering majoring in elementary education.
McCorkle had been a part of Manteno's successful girls soccer program. In her first three years at Manteno, the Panthers won the state, were state runnerup, and last spring the Panthers were in the Elite Eight with only five upperclassmen.
McCorkle has been in the top 11 for the Panthers ever since her freshman season. After an ACL cost her most of her sophomore season, the defending midfield returned strong last spring with four goals and seven assists, while anchoring the defense.
"Brittani has been a rock in the middle of the field for us since she was a freshman," Panther coach Jake Emerson said. "Being in the starting lineup since a freshman speaks volume for her abilities."
"She is very good in the air, and she wins tackles for us in the middle of the field," Emerson continued. "She is a smart player who sees the field well, and she reads the game well"
During her junior season, McCorkle was all-Interstate-8 selection and an all-area player.
McCorkle also played on the volleyball and basketball teams for her first two years in high school.
