Good News at Beecher Schools

-Pre-registration for this fall's kindergarten students is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8.


-Beecher High School will host parents of incoming freshman at the high school Preview night on March 26, at 7 p.m.


-Third quarter ends on Friday, March 20, for the junior high and ended on March 13 for the high school. Reports cards will be mailed home.


-Beecher Elementary School's third-through-fifth graders completed the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT), March 4-10. Beecher Junior High also tested their students during this time. The first and second grade students will take the Terra Nova achievement test April 1-7.


-Explore Test results showed a higher standard achievement in all areas. The test is used as the high school entrance exam for all current eighth graders who will attend BHS.

-Beecher Junior High will host the math team's conference meet on March 24. The Momence contest brought early success with two third places, a first and third place, and a second and third place won by the sixth, seventh and eighth grade squads respectively.


-Seventh grade girls volleyball ended their season by losing to Nash Junior High at the regional contest.


-Bradley Central will host the IESA solo and ensemble contest on March 28. BJHS will send 63 groups to be judged.


-The RVC Honors Band presented a concert at Olivet Nazarene University on Wednesday, March 11. Several students participated in this invitation only event.


-BHS Mathletes placed second at the regional competition and will advance to state on May 2 at the University of Illinois.


-Thirty-six high school students are participating in the six-week ACT prep course on Saturday mornings.


-All juniors took the pre-test of the Key Train program, which enables students to raise scores on the Work Keys test. Students not meeting the standard for success on the PSAE will be tutored in math and reading during homeroom. ACT and Work Keys make up the PSAE scores, which determine whether a school is meeting state standards.
