The 2009 Red Ford Mustang was sighted throughout Beecher tempting residents to purchase raffle tickets. Sales support the Beecher Fourth of July Commission. Tickets were $5 each, 6 for $20 or 20 for $50. The drawing for the car will be held at Firemen's Park at 10 p.m., July 5. This year, the commission added three Early Bird drawings of $250 each, to be pulled at 11 p.m. on July 2, 3, and 4. The winners' ticket stubs will be returned for the Mustang draw.

Schedule for Beecher 4th of July Festival Thursday, July 2 The 4th of July Festival will open on Thursday, July 2 at 6 p.m. and remain open until midnight. The Carnival and food booths will open at 6 p.m. and serve until midnight. For the children, the Little Smilin' Choo Choo will operate from 6 p.m. until midnight and the rides are free. The Prairie 4H Petting Zoo, with crafts, kids' games, demonstrations and face painting will be open from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

''Iron Horse'' will entertain on the main stage from 4 to 6 p.m. The ''Silhouettes'' will provide music on the main stage from 8 to 11:30 p.m. Bingo will be in progress from 6 to 10 p.m. Prairie 4H will have its petting zoo, with kids' games, crafts, demonstrations and face painting operating from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be a $250 drawing from the car raffle at 11 p.m. Saturday, July 4 ''Local Talent Day'' The carnival and food booths will be open from noon until midnight. In the morning, the Beecher Lions Club will hold its 5K Run/2 mile fitness walk. Check-in time is from 7 until 7:50 a.m., with the race beginning at 8 a.m. Pre-registration is $17 and registration on the day of the race is $20. Start and finish and registration are at the Community Hall, at 673 Penfield. There will be free refreshments and random prize drawings. Little Smilin' Choo Choo will give free rides from noon until midnight. Local Youth Bands will perform on the main stage from noon until 4 p.m. Registration is required. Prairie 4H petting zoo will be open from noon until 7 p.m. It will offer crafts, kids' games and face painting. Parade registration and line-up will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m., with the parade starting at 4 p.m. From 6 to 7 p.m., there will be a carillon recital. The bingo stand will operate from 6 to 10 p.m. ''Five Guys Named Moe'' will perform on the main stage from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. The great event, the Fireworks, will shoot off at 10 p.m. A $250 early bird drawing from the car raffle will happen at 11 p.m. Sunday, July 5 ''Family Entertainment Day'' The carnival and food booths will be open from noon to 10.30 p.m. The carnival will have $20 wristbands from 2 to 6 p.m. Free rides will be given by the Little Smilin' Choo Choo from noon until 10:30 p.m. The PAKT (Police and Kids Together) students will put on a demonstration from noon to 1 p.m. Check-in for the beanbag tournament will start at noon. The games will start at 1 p.m. There is a charge of $20 per team. Prizes will be based on the number of entries. Registration is required. A free climbing wall will be open from noon until 6 p.m. Prairie 4H will host its petting zoo, with crafts, kids' games and face painting from noon until 7 p.m. A cow pie bingo will take place at 2 p.m. The bingo stand will be open from 2 until 10 p.m. A Mariachi Jalisco Band will perform on the main stage from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Following the band, ''Gone 2 Paradise'' Jimmy Buffet band will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. The Chamber of Commerce will host its famous pork chop dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. or until the chops run out. A ''Kiss the Goat'' event will take place at 4 p.m. The final event of the evening will be the car raffle at 10 p.m. The 4th of July Commission welcomes all to this four-day event and hopes that everyone will enjoy a safe holiday. All of the proceeds from the festival will be used to improve the facilities of the village. It takes many workers and volunteers to have such a celebration. The commission invites anyone who would care to donate a few hours to make this event a success. Volunteers may call the village hall at 708-946-2261.
