Lions annual beef roast August 1 Share
The Beecher Lions Club will host its annual beef roast on August 1 in Firemen's Park in Beecher. Charcoal broiled beef will be available from approximately noon until sold out. According to President Chuck Hoehn: ''We will roast approximately 1,000 pounds of beef and serve it in dinners or as sandwiches.'' Dinners will include the club's special cole slaw, along with a baked potato, corn and a roll. Sandwiches will be served on a bun with potato chips. The Lions have been serving this popular dinner for many years. ''Many residents of the village and surrounding communities come to this event just for the dinners,'' said Hoehn. The day starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 10 p.m. In addition to the beef roast, the event will include an arts and crafts show; a car show which benefits the food pantries of Beecher; a beer tent; a blood drive; bingo; a petting zoo from Settler's Pond in Beecher; a 50/50 raffle; a business expo; the Lions Freedom Train; a bouncy house; and a DJ playing from 6 to 10 p.m.

Admission to the car show, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., will be one or more non-perishable food items, which will be donated to the Washington Township food pantries. All cars are welcome. In the evening, the Beecher Beautification Commission Community Dance will take place, with the proceeds to be used to help the commission plant flowers, trees and others items throughout the community. ''With the assistance of Mother Nature, the Lions plan for a fun-filled day with many events to entertain our visitors,'' said Hoehn. ''I hope all plan to come out for this event.''
