Citizen of Year nominations sought Share
Residents of Beecher, including Washington Township, are asked to think about their fellow citizens who give of themselves for the good of the community. The Beecher Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the 2009 Beecher Citizen of the Year. Nominees for the award should have been residents of Beecher for 12 months, and the selection will be based upon an evaluation of the service each candidate has provided to the community. According to the chamber's description of the program: ''The 'Citizen of the Year' award shall be bestowed once annually to that individual or couple who has contributed to the needs of the Beecher Community through a spirit of good stewardship and volunteerism, having donated time and efforts to make the Beecher community a better place in which to live.'' According to the chamber: ''The individual selected shall reflect what is the spirit and heart of Beecher, which is a traditional small town with a heritage which places the importance on family values and involvement in the community to sustain the quality of life that Beecher citizens enjoy.'' Nomination forms are available at the Village Hall, Dollar Store Plus, or at www.BeecherChamber.com. Completed forms can be dropped off at the village hall or mailed to the Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 292, Beecher, IL 60401.
