The entire community is invited to Peotone's Relay for Life on July 31 at Peotone Junior High School.

With a theme of ''Around the World for a Cure,'' walkers will gather at the track to walk through the night as a symbolic battle against cancer.

According to event chairwoman Stacey Morris, Relay for Life is a family-oriented team event where participants walk relay-style around the track and take part in fun activities off the track.''

By participating, Morris said, community members honor cancer survivors, pay tribute to those who have lost their fight with caner and raise money to help cancer patients.

This is Peotone's fifth year hosting the event. This year, 21 teams are signed up, with 185 participants.
