Beecher School district's annual ''Concert for the Hungry'' was held Oct. 28. The concert, which raises donations for local food pantries, was held at Beecher High School gymnasium and was well attended.

Concertgoers were asked to bring a non-perishable food item in lieu of admission. The High School Concert Band kicked off the concert with ''The Star Spangled Banner,'' followed by the seventh and eighth grade chorus singing ''Shenandoah.''

The seventh and eighth grade band, directed by Jim Vidmar, played ''Ceremonial,'' followed by the high school chorus' ''One Little Candle'' and ''Sol-Fa Calypso.'' Brittany Williams directed both choral groups.

The high school concert band, directed by Jason Hodac, wrapped up the evening with a variety of selections including ''Stateside March,'' ''Salvation is Created,'' ''Awake,'' and ''Hopak,'' finishing with a spirited piece called ''Rites of Tamburo.''

Following the concert, volunteers delivered the two truckloads of donations collected for the food pantries at Beecher Community Evangelical Free Church and Zion Lutheran Church.
