Village board agrees to raise water fee by $2 a month

Beecher village board agreed on Monday to authorize the village attorney to draft an ordinance, raising the water bill by $2 per month, $4 per billing cycle, as a flat charge on all water accounts as a water infrastructure fee. The funds will be placed in a capital improvements account for the sole purpose of replacing aging water mains and associated hydrants.

BHS strives for improvement

The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) was signed by President Bush on January 8, 2002, with overwhelming support by both the Senate and House. NCLB consists of four basic educational goals: accountability for results, more local control, reproducing proven teaching methods based on scientific research, and choices for parents. Accountability for results is the area that has America's schools apprehensive. However, a positive result of accountability is school improvement planning.

Census 2010 is coming soon

The Census Bureau will soon be sending out the 2010 census forms. Residents can expect to receive the forms in March. This year, the forms are different from previous census counts. There are only 10 questions on the form, and it will take only a few minutes to complete it.
