THE PEOTONE school board's January Student of the Month is Julia Perri, the the daughter of Tony and Caryn Perri of Peotone. She is a PHS senior who has earned a 4.939 grade point average and ranks fifth in her class of 152 students. Julia is active in National Honor Society, International Culture Club and Student Council. She also is a member of the girls' basketball, soccer and volleyball teams. Outside of school, Julia is an AWANA youth group leader and a Biddy Basketball coach. In her spare time, she like to reads, hang out with friends and play sports. She plans to attend a four-year university and pursue a degree in nursing. She received a certificate of recognition from Board President Tara Robinson during Monday night's board meeting.

Award-winning Crete-Monee drum major Tina Moscatel signs a letter of commitment to the University of Iowa, which she will attend in the fall. She plans to study psychology and Spanish. Tina will be trying out for the marching band and does not rule out an attempt to be the first female drum major for the marching Hawkeyes. Tina has wowed the home fans with her energy and mace routines. As a leader, she has assisted the C-M Marching Warriors in their collection of trophies, including best drum major awards, during her three-year career.

JOE AND CAROL (SPANGLER) COCHRAN of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on February 3. They were married February 3, 1962, in St. Joseph's Church in Manteno. They have three children, Donna Richmond of Peoria, Kathy Cochran of Bourbonnais and Joanne Cochran of Hilton Head. They also have two grandchildren, Matt Richmond and Eric Richmond. A family get-together is being planned.
