Irene S. Ryerson, 94 of rural Marshall, formerly of West York, IL died at the home of her daughter Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 3:54 a.m. She was born July 7, 1915 in Bennington, IL in Edwards County, the daughter of John L. Elkins and Mary Sirbina Moomau Elkins. She retired from L. S. Heath & Sons in 1982 after 27 years of service as a machine operator, and she was a member of the West York Bible Church, formerly the West York United Methodist Church. She married Byron Garnet Ryerson on December 31, 1946 and he preceded her in death on April 29, 1989. She was also preceded by her parents; 3 daughters, Barbara Allison, Mary Jane Weaver, and Sue Ella Ryerson; 2 sisters, Nola Elkins and Margaret Pleasant; her half-sister, Eleanor Elkins; and her grandson, Bobby Allison. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Loren D. Cannady, Marshall; 16 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Beatrice Goodwin, Robinson, Maxine Harrison, Marshall, and Thelma Lowe and her friend, Paul Rosenberg, Robinson; her brother and sister-in-law, John S. and Lillian Elkins, Kings Mt., NC. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 2nd at the West York Bible Church with Brother Joe Griffith in charge of services. Burial was in the Bradbury Cemetery rural West York. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday December 1, at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union, IL and at the Bible Church in West York from 10:00 a.m. prior to service time at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Rosemary Craig, age 75, of Wendelin, IL passed away Sunday at 2:50 p.m. November 29, 2009 Burgin Manor in Olney, IL. Funeral services celebrating Rosemary's life were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at the Blake-Wright Funeral Home in Dieterich, IL with Bro. Ron Payne officiating. Burial was in the Dieterich Village Cemetery in Dieterich, IL. Visitation was held 1 hour before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Rosemary was born on September 3, 1934 in Dieterich, IL the daughter of George and Lola (Harris) Cole. Rosemary worked for AMF for 17 years and was a caregiver for many years. She was a member of the Ingraham Christian Church. Rosemary is survived by three children, Kathy (Alan) Clodfelter of Neoga, IL, Mary (Allen) Travous of Olney, IL and Jeff (Jane) Russell of Porterville, IL, one brother, Allen (Elfriede) Cole of Louisville, IL, three sisters, Adeline Flowers of Dieterich, IL, Alberta Wilson of Indianola, IL, and Erusula Russell of Dieterich, IL, ten grandchildren and 11 great randchildren. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, son Steven Russell, Sr. and a brother Tom Cole.

Helen M. Layton, 78, of Marshall, IL passed away 10:15 p.m. Thursday, November 26, 2009 in the Burnsides Community Health Care Center at Marshall, IL. She had been employed by Zenith at Paris, IL and had retired from TRW at Marshall, IL. She was born April 25, 1931 at Marshall, IL, the daughter of Snowden Lewsader and Cora Lee Black Lewsader. She married Donald Gene Layton and he preceded her in death on August 31, 2002. Surviving are two sons, Donald 0. Layton Jr. and his companion Hallie Wilhoit of Paris, IL and Billy Layton of Lyford, IN; grandchildren, Nicole M. Garner of Terre Haute, IN. Elizabeth Ann Layton of Terre Haute, IN, Billy Joe Layton of California and Allen Clarkston of Arizona; great grandchild, Logan Garner of Terre Haute, IN; one sister, Lilly McNamee of Garland, TX and two brothers, Andrew Lewsader of Riley, IN and Delbert Lewsader of Rosedale, 111. She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Willis; a brother; Hubert Lewsader and a grandson, Timmy Layton. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Marshall and was a graduate of Marshall High School. Her special interests was to garden, read, sew and go on sightseeing trips. She loved to make candy and goodies for her family and many friends. Services in honor of her life were 1:00 p.m. Monday at Pearce Funeral Home at Marshall with Rev. Jim Rue officiating. Burial was in the Livingston Cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior services at the funeral home on Monday. In lieu of flowers, it is requested memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association or to Riley Children's Hospital.

Mary E. Murphy, 87, of Casey, IL passed away at 10:45 p.m. on Saturday,November 28, 2009 at Heartland Manor in Casey, IL. She was born August 3, 1922 in Casey, IL, the daughter of Thomas Aaron Stinson and Nettie .Mae Rienbolt Stinson. On October ii, 1941 she married Edwin Lenuel 'Doe'' Murphy. Survivors include her husband of sixty-eight years, Edwin ''Doe'' Murphy of Casey, IL; brother, Oscar Stinson of Fairbanks, IN; sister, Norma Butcher of Casey, IL; sister, irene Whitling of Casey, IL; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Her parents, brother, Don Stinson, sisters, Helen Updegraff and Thelma Orrell preceded her in death. Mary was a member of the First Christian Church in Casey, IL. She worked in Casey, IL at Ettlebrick Shoe Factory for over twenty-nine years, Underwood's for eight years and Bingo King for two years. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial followed in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery. Visitation was held from 12 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Doris Elaine Kelley, 72, of West Union, IL, died Thursday evening, November 19, 2009 at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born May 27, 1937 in Marshall, IL, the daughter of Ben Drummond and Thelma Lillian Bowen Drummond. She was a homemaker; she worked at TRW; and following a clerk at Blankenship Drug Store, Marshall. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, West Union, IL. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Julia and James Hunt, North Riverside, IL; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sherry Frets, Terre Haute, IN; her step-daughter and her husband, Cindy and Rex Delp, West Union; her step-son and his wife, Bill and Marjorie Kelley, West York, IL; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; her brother and his wife, Jim and Yvonne Drummond, Monroe, LA; her 3 sisters and her brother-in-law, Rosemary Pellum, Marshall, Betty and Robert Talbot, Ann Arbor, MI; and Jean Davis, Greenville, IN. She married James A. Kelley March 12, 1974 and he preceded her in death in November 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her brother Don Drummond. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 22nd at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home, West Union, IL with Pastor Don Russell officiating. Burial will be in the York Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21st at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of West Union or to the American Cancer Society.

Norma R. Griffin, 88, of Marshall, IL (Formerly of the Oliver area) passed away 5:30 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2009 in the Burnsides Community Health Center at Marshall. She was born July 9, 1921 at Shirkieville, IN, the daughter of Orley Clark and Susie Emily Nye Clark. She was married to Lester ''Judd'' Griffin who preceded her in death on May 11, 1987. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Daisy 1. Potts, Dessie F. Shonk, Stella M. Walls, William Clark, Burnard Clark, Gene Clark, Lulu Belle Dahistrom, and Thelma Miller Pearison. She was an accomplished cook and loved to do so. She help her husband farm for many years. Services in honor of her life were at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Pearce Funeral Home at Marshall with Rev. David Deal officiating. Burial was in the Forsythe Cemetery, rural Marshall. Visitation was 11:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marshall Public Library or to the Seniors Social Lunch Club.

Carollin Sue Clark, age 70, of Gila, IL passed away at 9:56 a.m. Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. Funeral services celebrating Sue's life were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the Blake-Wright Funeral Home in Dieterich, IL with Gene Creek officiating. Burial was in the Kerns Cemetery near Gila, IL. Visitation was held 1 hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital. Carollin Sue better know as Sue was born on February 27, 1939 in Mattoon, IL the daughter of Harold and Maxine (Claxon) Stansbery. She married Rodger Clark on January 26, 1973 and he preceded her in death on October 26, 2009. Sue was a Register Nurse and had worked at Link Clinic in Mattoon. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mattoon. She enjoyed gardening. Sue is survived by her loving Son, Jeffrey Clark of Jewett, IL. Sue was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Dana Lynn Finney, 58, of Phoenix Arizona formerly of Casey, Illinois passed away in his sleep at his home on November 12, 2009. He was born on April 30, 1951 in Casey, Illinois, the son of Robert Dale Finney and Charmaine Eirhart Finney. Survivors include two daughters, Melissa Suzanne Christmas and husband Michael of Peoria, Arizona; and Amanda Mae Culver and husband nyle of Glendale, Arizona; two sons, Andrew William Finney and Daniel Lynn Finney, both of Glendale, Arizona; three grandchildren, Wesley Christmas, Samantha Christmas, and Issac Christmas of Peoria, Arizona; sister, Billie Sweitzer and husband Gerald of Marshall, Illinois brother, Alan Leon Finney and wife Michelle of Green Cove Springs, Florida; sister, Debbie Hendereon and husband Robert of Casey, Illinois; brother, Dale Finney and wife Jessica of Casey, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Billy Dean Sweitzer. Dana graduated from Casey High School in 1969 and worked as an automobile mechanic at the Chevrolet Garage in Casey for several years before moving to Arizona. He continued working as an automobile mechanic until his death. Dana loved his family, fishing, and gardening. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
