Chamber announces Business and Citizen of the Year


Bill Johnson - Manhattan Chamber of Commerce (MCC) Treasurer, owner of Select Perfection Construction and last year's recipient of the Citizen of the Year award - presented the Chamber's ''Citizen of the Year'' award to Manhattan's Pat Curren at the MCC's fourth annual State of the Village Address luncheon. Curren has worked tirelessly to grow ''Operation Care Package'' over the past eight years, seeing to it that thousands of service men and women deployed overseas receive packages filled with personal products and treats in addition to letters of encouragement.


Driveway width and truck parking ordinances discussed


At the January 19 meeting, Manhattan Village Board discussed ordinances regarding minimum driveway width and truck parking in residential areas. In 2009, an amendment to the minimum design requirements regarding specified that driveways must be a minimum of 18' in width or one foot wider than the garage door on either side of the driveway, whichever is greater.


Manhattan Patriots Football and Cheerleading organization announce registration


The Manhattan Patriots Football and Cheerleading organization's philosophy has been to teach the fundamentals of football and cheerleading, which prepares each football player or cheerleader for the next level of play. The organization was developed for area children to have fun and have a place that allows them to focus their energies in a positive manner.
