Robert Hamann

Robert D. "Bob" Hamann of rural Grant Park died Thursday, January 26, 2012.
He was born July 22, 1919, in Grant Park. He served on the Whitaker Elevator Board, the Sumner Township Board and Grant Park Board of Education. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Grant Park, where he served as Sunday school teacher and superintendent, Council chairman and other committees. He delivered Meals on Wheels and solicited contributions for the establishment of Beecher Manor and Riverside Medical Center.
Mr. Hamann is survived by his wife of 70 years, Bonnie Lamore Hamann; two sons, Larry Hamann and Ronald (Erin) Hamann; a daughter, Sharilyn (Lawrence) Ohm; nine grandchildren, Lori Burrell, Jayne Frahm, Jim Hamann, Keith Ohm, Ryan Ohm, Trenton Ohm, Andrew Hamann, Krysta Hamann and Mitchell Weakley; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert B. and Alvina Bakhaus Hamann; a daughter-in-law, Kay Hamann; and a sister, Marcella Buhr Wattman.
Visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 29, at Hub Funeral Home in Grant Park. Funeral 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 30, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Doug Zimmerman officiating. Burial in Heusing Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Peter's United Church of Christ of Hospice of Kankakee Valle
